CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE

Well it's true!

As you may have (but probably haven't) already found out, my fellow friends and I have started an organization called the 27 acts of honor, and Ariel, Lilah and I have written a song about the tragedy. It's actually going very well so far! I am playing the grand piano though, and seeing that I am a drummer, not a pianist, I have some brushing up on skills to do. (Find out more by clicking the link.)

THANK YOU ALL AND HAVE A WONDERFUL WINTER BREAK!

Howlin' For You

I'm really in love with dynamic songs at the moment. To summarize, songs that are not Call Me Maybe. So I made a playlist of a bunch of songs that I felt were worthy enough for the title "dynamic". The first one here is called Howlin' For You by The Black Keys. I am playing this song in a band at the moment. I really love the base line--listen closely, you'll hear it. It kind of reminded me of Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, another duo, but it is, of course, quite different. Here is is (with lyrics):

The next one is Secrets by OneRepublic. This song was actually very popular for a while last year. What I adore about this song is, obviously, the violins. There are some songs that you listen to and have a tune that is just so memorable. I always wonder how they came up with this genius violin part!

And last but not least, Abraham's Daughter by Arcade Fire. This song was made for the Hunger Games movie, but it really seems like so much more than that. I am so loyal to songs made for a movie soundtrack that don't sound like they were written specially for anything.

Zou Bisou Bisou Means I Love You

Holidays. You gotta love 'em. However this holiday is over now, and students are (im)patiently waiting for winter vacation to start. In the mean time I am desperately craving warmth and the beach, and winter is not exactly the time for that. Winter is just. So. Annoying. I'm stuck in the middle of the school year WAITING. Lucky me.

BUT! I came across a rather adorable song when I was looking for (the amazing!) 60's music; Zou Bisou Bisou! (Means I love you.) It's from 1962. This is in French, and this particular version is sung by Gillian Hills. She has an extremely lovely voice and the way she moves her head is quite cute! So here you go!

This Is Key (board)

Before yesterday, my family owned a keyboard that, okay, I'll say it. Was not worth even twenty dollars. And, since we have two people in our family, it's kind of necessary to have a decent keyboard. I went on a complete shopping spree with my mother and sisters yesterday afternoon, and we decided, since we were about ten meters away from The Guitar Center, (which carries keyboards for some odd reason, you would expect them to only have guitars) we decided to get a brand new keyboard! I am quite happy about this. It has many cool effects.

Now, I am sorry for the inconsistant posting lately. I will try to make time and be better about it! But, for the time being, BYE!

The Girl Who Sang

I love the warm kind of memories that light up a smile on your face at the thought of.

Three days ago I went to the beach with one of my best friends, desprately in need of summer. I WANT SUMMER.

However this photo is here because musical graphics were not in stock. This will do.

What's up with the title? Oh, right! One proud member of the Unwired community recently performed in music class, a song that you will hopefully have already heard of, called Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye. This got me thinking, everyone listened to this song and LOVED it, (well, mostly everybody, that is,) so why don't people check out other songs by Gotye? Then I realized that I didn't either! So I did. And here's a song that I especially appreciated. Hope you like it!

I just adore this music video. In a creepy way.

RED

OK yes yes I am ever so sorry for taking such a long time to do another darn post. However I've been busy so you cannot blame me! (Fine you can.) I'm also in that realm of blogging when I have, like, the largest laziness and cannot muster up the energy to write all those words. But now, (thank you, dear radio!) I have found a topic to ramble on about! So instead of holding you captive and talking about what I am going to post about, I'll make use of your time and actually post it.

Yes, finally! Taylor Swift has recently come out with another album. If you know me, you'll know that I have a (common) obsession with dear Taylor, and when she comes out with a new song, let alone ALBUM, I'll yack on about it for days. Lucky for you, I'm only going to yack on about it for A day this time!

Performing in the U.K.

There has been an interesting article that has caught my eye that states that if you listen closely, Taylor Swift is like Leonard Cohen. Just something that I thought may interest some of you Taytay fans out there. I was quite glad to find that some people, besides her beloved teen fans, appreciate the quality in her song writing, let alone her complete awesomeness!

So if I had to pick favorites, these would be my top songs of the album, from 1 to 4.

Back in the Game

Today, Unwired (kinda--Lilah, moi and our music teacher) had our first performance since May 25, 2012! We played the (original!) Believe again, but even though we haven't even practiced together since May, we still did (a lot) better than last time. I think it's because last time we used piano, drums, vocals, flute AND steel drums, but the time we only used piano, drums and vocals. It made a big difference. So the reason we performed was because at my new school, one time a week my music class (of twenty one people) gets a chance to perform for each other! I think this is so fun and it's a fantastic/fabulous/fantabulous idea.

ALSO: Tomorrow is my first school dance since forever! I've never been to a school dance before. I'm going with my humble friend, Ariel, who happens to also be a talented member of Unwired the band. So I think you've read enough now.... Bye!

~ UNWIRED

P.S. This picture is not us performing. It's just a random picture that I found on Google images. We were just performing in our music classroom.

Ronan

Ronan by Taylor Swift--I cried SO hard at this song. It is about a boy (four years old!) who... died of cancer. Written by Taylor Swift and Ronan's mom. When you buy this on iTunes the profits all go to a cancer foundation, Stand Up To Cancer. So go and buy it! PLEASE!

Glee!

Season three of Glee is on Netflix! I am so happy! I must say (spoiler alert!!) I was surprised how much Quinn had changed. I kind of love-hate Sue Selvester. She's so awesome but she's just so evil! I hope the Glee club wins nationals! My dad's watching a football game so I can't watch it now... Oh well. Gosh I am such a sucker for music shows!

A Real Hero

A Real Hero by College feat. Electric Youth. There are no words to describe how magical this song is.

Despite me demanding to play this song every time I see an iPod, I do not get to listen to it enough. It is from the Drive soundtrack, from a movie called Drive based on a book called Drive... Wow I've never said Drive so many times in one sentence. Someone. Call a doctor!

No don't call a doctor, that was just me being random.

OH MY GUSHY!

OH MY GUSHY! I had my first drum lesson last Thursday! Well, the first of the school year, that is. I so happy I'm getting back into the routine, because honestly, I was being a slacker all summer with my broken drumhead and everything. But now it's fixed, and I'm getting back on track! Part of the reason I like music lessons is because some repitition is good, but you get something new every week so it isn't too repetitive. Well anyhoo, I feel like my blog is getting pretty lame because I only have like 300 likes. Sad. My new goal that I am making official right here and now is to get at LEAST 1,000 likes by January! I think I might be able to pull it off. By the way, thank you guys! I've been getting a tremendous amount of emails with feedback and requests and I will do my best to make it all happen! Bye people! ~ Unwired

Everything's New

New school, new drumhead, new haircut, everything's new! Starting with school--I LOVE my new school. The teachers, kids, and classes are all fantastic! I have the best teacher for homeroom, and I have three people I know in my homeroom! Many people don't know anyone in their homeroom.

Next, the drumhead! In a few posts before, you heard me rambling on about my broken bass drumhead, right? Well, it's fixed! I'm finally able to practice, and that's a definite essential, since I will be starting up drum lessons again very soon.

And now, my haircut. I have bangs, but really, they don't suit me, so I just wear them in a headband. Sad. :(

Well, that wraps up this post (apologies for not doing one in so long.) Byebye!

Back to School!

Heyz! The new school year is almost starting... Happy but sad, though this mean MUSIC! Many public schools support a rock band program in which you can create a band with a group of friends. Isn't that awesome? So, like Unwired, you could for, your own school band and practice in the music room! I don't know if private schools have this, but I ever so hope they do! Bye for now, fellow music unthusiests! See ya! ~ Unwired

Updates

Hello! I'm sorry I haven't done a post in almost a month.... Summer business! Anyways, here are a few updates from my summer. So first, the head of my bass drum is shredding, so we will need to get a replacement drum head, (which luckily isn't very expensive). Next, I got all of my back to school supplies (including clothes) ready to go! I'm actually quite excited for the new school year. I'm used to seeing all of my friends, but I haven't seen a lot of them since the last day of school! My close-by friends I get to see all the time, fortunately. Comment and tell me how YOUR summer has been going! Thanks, and I hope to do more posts soon! Bye! - Unwired

Make do with What You Have

Hey there! If you don't exactly have an instrument, try to use what you do have if possible to make music and practice! For a few months I was drumming on pots, pans and cardboard boxes... But it still was fine! Thank you for reading, and be sure to check out other posts! Bye! ~ Unwired

Summer Music

Hello again! Since its summer now, I realize that a lot of people will be busy. But, in your free time, just play music! Since you probably don't have any or many assignments, just ROCK OUT! Try to figure out the music to your gave song, or put your MP3 player on shuffle and play your heart out! Thanks for reading, and feel free to send requests or feedback. ~ UNWIRED

Almost Summer!

Hey guys! Since it's almost summer vacation, I just wanted to wish everyone an extraordinarily awesome summer! Even though you probably don't have music lessons in the summer, try to still practice a bit. Even if that means twice a month, at least it's not nothing! Thanks for visiting Unwired's new website! Last Drum Lesson!

Hey guys! Yesterday (Thursday, June 7, 2012) I had my last drum lesson of the year! Yes, yes, very sad... :( But it was also quite fun! For the entire thirty minutes, my drum teacher put the iPod on shuffle, and we made music, music, MORE MUSIC!! :) If you play the drums, this is a super fun way to practice! Thanks for visiting, peeps! Bye for now!

Any Requests??

Hello, music lovers! For those drummers who visit the site, if you want me to do a written tutorial on how to do a certain drum beat, I'll do it! And if I haven't yet learned that beat, I'll try to learn it as soon as possible! If you don't know what the beat's called, you can just say, for example, 'can you tell me how to do the beat in Adele's song Rolling in the Deep?' If you have a request, just simply comment in the comment box below. Thanks for visiting Unwired! I'd love if you visited again!

Aced the 16th Notes on High Hat!

Hello! I just wanted to make this post to inform you (because I am quite exuberant about this) that I have finally mastered my new drum beat! In this beat, (to shake it up a little) instead of 8th notes on the high hat, you do 16th notes, but on the snare and bass, you do the same you would in a classic beat. For you who play the drums and are on the right level, try this if you want to!

Thanks for reading! You can always request to explain a beat on the drums in the comment box below. Bye!

On to the Next Song

Hey there! Since Unwired has now preformed our original song "Believe" twice, it's time to play another song! Oh, we have MANY, MANY to choose from. Hope this experience is as awesome as the last!

ALSO: In the summer we won't have as many practices, but I'll still try to keep the blog up-to-date and in tip-top shape! Thanks for reading, and come again as much as possible! :) BYE!

Make music with What You Got

Hello again! I didn't get a drum set right when I started drumming, so for w while, I was making music on pots, pans, boxes, chairs, whatever was there! It's still extra fun, because you're still making music! If you don't have an instrument to use, gather what you have in your house (that your parents won't yell at you for banging on), and HAVE FUN!! :) Thanks for reading! Bye!

~ Unwired

Create your OWN band!

Hello! Getting straight to the point--if you want to, just make your own band! Get a group of your most musical BFFs, and make some darn good music! Having friends in your band is super fun, because in practices, you can also laugh away with your buddies! Thanks for reading, and hopefully you'll create your own band! Bye!

Practicing

Hello fellas! I know, if you play an instrument, you probably hate practicing. But really, practicing even just 5 days a week gives some serious improvement, and I'm speaking from experience! Actually, now that I quit piano and am now playing the drums, I love practicing! And if you have assignments that you need to work on, practice those, then just rock out, do your own thing!

Thank you for reading, and come again as much as possible! Bye!

Next Week...

Hey guys! Guess what? Next week we have our performance! It's on Thursday, and we're all SUPER excited. We have a dress rehearsal on Monday, (I haven't even figured out what I am to wear!), another practice on the day of the performance, and I CAN'T WAIT! Everybody has worked very hard, including you for spending your perfectly good time reading this! Thanks anyways! Bye, peeps!

Done with the Video!

Hey, music lovers! As I said in a previous post, Unwired the band was going to do a video, and we finished! It turned out great, with special thanks to the teachers at our school. I'm also including this post to also recommend an musician, (whom of which you probably already have heard of), Adele. She has gone a very long way since her album, 19. She won 6 Grammys in one night! How amazing? Another musician, Birdy, said that her favorite song ever was "Rolling In The Deep", which is also by Adele.

Thanks for reading, and keep making music! Loud music! Bye!

Video shooting!

Hello again! As I mentioned in a previous post, our singer can't make it to the performance! :( BUT... Because of this, we get to shoot a video with her, and then show it after we perform live! I am ever so excited!

I'm actually rather thankful of this, because then if the live one has a few mess-ups, we can show the video, and all will be good again. :)

Thanks for visiting! Come again, and feel free to request something, such as topics for posts or something like that. Bye!

A NEW DRUMSET!!

Hey guys! Guess what?? I GOT  DRUMSET! Oh my, I am so excited, I think I might BLOW UP!! (That would not be too pretty...)

It's a black drumset, and the only things that it's missing are:

1 tom tom, 1 accent cymbal.

OH MY! And it sounds SO AMAZING! Oh seriously I am so excited.

I'm sorry (ever so sorry) for wasting your time. Goodbye, and come again! Also, please go to my fashion website, http://topspotknitter.blogspot.com. Thank you!

Definition of Musical

Being 'musical' doesn't really mean you play a lot of instruments; it means you enjoy playing music. To be honest, I absolutely HATED piano, but once I started doing the drums, it was like a musical door opened for me! I know, right now I sound really cheesy, but I mean it! Drumming is fun to me. Piano is probably really fun for other people, but it just wasn't my calling. It's like the drums were made for me! I could play one beat for an hour straight. What's your instrument? Please comment below! Thank you for reading! And yes, I know I sound very much cheesy. Bye!

The Big Show!

Hi guys! The big show is coming up on May 24!! Yay! But, the bad news is... OUR SINGER WON'T BE THERE! No! Now I feel really bad when I talk about, because she'll miss it! :( And also, who's singing?! Oh, yeah, we've taken care of that already. Once again, I have no permission to say names, but luckily we have 2 people with very nice singing voices in our band, so we do have a singer. Back to my original point, I can't wait! Thanks for reading!

List of Unwired songs

Hello again! Here I will pretty much just be posting a list Unwired has written. Here you go:

1. Unwired (Yes, the song is the name of our band)
2. Clues
3. Under the Starlight (Still needs work on the guitar music)
4. Believe (The one we're doing for the performance)
5. You've Got it Good (Now that I think about it, the tune to the chorus in this kind of sounds like Skyscraper by Demi Lavato)
6. Ashes and Embers (The name doesn't really fit the song; this is actually about rising from the Ashes and Embers)
7. Blaze (I just love that name!)
8. Waterfall of Tears (Yep... You can tell by the name it's a sad song)
There are SO many more, I just can't remember, 'cause I lost my song book! :( Anyway, I'll try to post some of the actual songs soon! Bye! ;)

Introducing Unwired

Hello fellas! You might know me already from my Top-spot Knitter blog. Anyway, I'm Phoebe. Thank you for coming to the Unwired blog! In this post, I will basically introduce Unwired. So, here goes!
Unwired is a band my friends and I formed at Hall elementary, where we go to school. We aren't a serious band; we really just have fun with our time, when we can get it.
I am the drummer/songwriter in Unwired. I would list everyone else, but at the moment, I do not have any permission to. Right now we are practicing a song that I wrote called "Believe". We do need work on the song, which is why we go in the music room at lunch with our music teacher every Thursday (yay!).
On May 24, 2012 we have a performance! We are SO excited and nervous, but we'll have fun no matter what.
That's Unwired's bio! See ya! ;)
