LIKE, MILLIONS OF UPDATES

Millions, because I haven't updated this since DECEMBER. I am so busy and unorganized.... I NEED TO GET ON TOP OF THINGS!

So, for starters, we are no longer having music class in school. That means no more performance day for Unwired to show off our absolute swag! However, on the last performance day, Lilah and I pulled together a completely last minute song and ROCKED IT! We only had a verse, pre chorus and chorus, but we are adding on as you read this. Score!

That's actually really it... THANKS PEOPLE AND STAY ROCKIN!

CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE

Well it's true!

As you may have (but probably haven't) already found out, my fellow friends and I have started an organization called the 27 acts of honor, and Ariel, Lilah and I have written a song about the tragedy. It's actually going very well so far! I am playing the grand piano though, and seeing that I am a drummer, not a pianist, I have some brushing up on skills to do. (Find out more by clicking the link.)

THANK YOU ALL AND HAVE A WONDERFUL WINTER BREAK!

Howlin' For You

I'm really in love with dynamic songs at the moment. To summarize, songs that are not Call Me Maybe. So I made a playlist of a bunch of songs that I felt were worthy enough for the title "dynamic". The first one here is called Howlin' For You by The Black Keys. I am playing this song in a band at the moment. I really love the base line--listen closely, you'll hear it. It kind of reminded me of Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, another duo, but it is, of course, quite different. Here is is (with lyrics):

The next one is Secrets by OneRepublic. This song was actually very popular for a while last year. What I adore about this song is, obviously, the violins. There are some songs that you listen to and have a tune that is just so memorable. I always wonder how they came up with this genius violin part!

And last but not least, Abraham's Daughter by Arcade Fire. This song was made for the Hunger Games movie, but it really seems like so much more than that. I am so loyal to songs made for a movie soundtrack that don't sound like they were written specially for anything.

Zou Bisou Bisou Means I Love You

Holidays. You gotta love 'em. However this holiday is over now, and students are (im)patiently waiting for winter vacation to start. In the mean time I am desperately craving warmth and the beach, and winter is not exactly the time for that. Winter is just. So. Annoying. I'm stuck in the middle of the school year WAITING. Lucky me.

BUT! I came across a rather adorable song when I was looking for (the amazing!) 60's music; Zou Bisou Bisou! (Means I love you.) It's from 1962. This is in French, and this particular version is sung by Gillian Hills. She has an extremely lovely voice and the way she moves her head is quite cute! So here you go!

This Is Key (board)

Before yesterday, my family owned a keyboard that, okay, I'll say it. Was not worth even twenty dollars. And, since we have two people in our family, it's kind of necessary to have a decent keyboard. I went on a complete shopping spree with my mother and sisters yesterday afternoon, and we decided, since we were about ten meters away from The Guitar Center, (which carries keyboards for some odd reason, you would expect them to only have guitars) we decided to get a brand new keyboard! I am quite happy about this. It has many cool effects.

Now, I am sorry for the inconsistant posting lately. I will try to make time and be better about it! But, for the time being, BYE!

The Girl Who Sang

I love the warm kind of memories that light up a smile on your face at the thought of.

Three days ago I went to the beach with one of my best friends, desprately in need of summer. I WANT SUMMER.

However this photo is here because musical graphics were not in stock. This will do.

What's up with the title? Oh, right! One proud member of the Unwired community recently performed in music class, a song that you will hopefully have already heard of, called Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye. This got me thinking, everyone listened to this song and LOVED it, (well, mostly everybody, that is,) so why don't people check out other songs by Gotye? Then I realized that I didn't either! So I did. And here's a song that I especially appreciated. Hope you like it!

I just adore this music video. In a creepy way.

RED

OK yes yes I am ever so sorry for taking such a long time to do another darn post. However I've been busy so you cannot blame me! (Fine you can.) I'm also in that realm of blogging when I have, like, the largest laziness and cannot muster up the energy to write all those words. But now, (thank you, dear radio!) I have found a topic to ramble on about! So instead of holding you captive and talking about what I am going to post about, I'll make use of your time and actually post it.

Yes, finally! Taylor Swift has recently come out with another album. If you know me, you'll know that I have a (common) obsession with dear Taylor, and when she comes out with a new song, let alone ALBUM, I'll yack on about it for days. Lucky for you, I'm only going to yack on about it for A day this time!

Performing in the U.K.

There has been an interesting article that has caught my eye that states that if you listen closely, Taylor Swift is like Leonard Cohen. Just something that I thought may interest some of you Taytay fans out there. I was quite glad to find that some people, besides her beloved teen fans, appreciate the quality in her song writing, let alone her complete awesomeness!

So if I had to pick favorites, these would be my top songs of the album, from 1 to 4.

Back in the Game

Today, Unwired (kinda--Lilah, moi and our music teacher) had our first performance since May 25, 2012! We played the (original!) Believe again, but even though we haven't even practiced together since May, we still did (a lot) better than last time. I think it's because last time we used piano, drums, vocals, flute AND steel drums, but the time we only used piano, drums and vocals. It made a big difference. So the reason we performed was because at my new school, one time a week my music class (of twenty one people) gets a chance to perform for each other! I think this is so fun and it's a fantastic/fabulous/fantabulous idea.

ALSO: Tomorrow is my first school dance since forever! I've never been to a school dance before. I'm going with my humble friend, Ariel, who happens to also be a talented member of Unwired the band. So I think you've read enough now.... Bye!

P.S. This picture is not us performing. It's just a random picture that I found on Google images. We were just performing in our music classroom.

Ronan

Ronan by Taylor Swift--I cried SO hard at this song. It is about a boy (four years old!) who... died of cancer. Written by Taylor Swift and Ronan's mom. When you buy this on iTunes the profits all go to a cancer foundation, Stand Up To Cancer. So go and buy it! PLEASE!

Glee!

Season three of Glee is on Netflix! I am so happy! I must say (spoiler alert!!) I was surprised how much Quinn had changed. I kind of love-hate Sue Selvester. She's so awesome but she's just so evil! I hope the Glee club wins nationals! My dad's watching a football game so I can't watch it now... Oh well. Gosh I am such a sucker for music shows!

A Real Hero

A Real Hero by College feat. Electric Youth. There are no words to describe how magical this song is.

Despite me demanding to play this song every time I see an iPod, I do not get to listen to it enough. It is from the Drive soundtrack, from a movie called Drive based on a book called Drive... Wow I've never said Drive so many times in one sentence. Someone. Call a doctor!

No don't call a doctor, that was just me being random.

OH MY GUSHY!

OH MY GUSHY! I had my first drum lesson last Thursday! Well, the first of the school year, that is. I so happy I'm getting back into the routine, because honestly, I was being a slacker all summer with my broken drumhead and everything. But now it's fixed, and I'm getting back on track! Part of the reason I like music lessons is because some repitition is good, but you get something new every week so it isn't too repetitive. Well anyhoo, I feel like my blog is getting pretty lame because I only have like 300 likes. Sad. My new goal that I am making official right here and now is to get at LEAST 1,000 likes by January! I think I might be able to pull it off. By the way, thank you guys! I've been getting a tremendous amount of emails with feedback and requests and I will do my best to make it all happen! Bye people! ~ Unwired

Everything's New

New school, new drumhead, new haircut, everything's new! Starting with school--I LOVE my new school. The teachers, kids, and classes are all fantastic! I have the best teacher for homeroom, and I have three people I know in my homeroom! Many people don't know anyone in their homeroom.

Next, the drumhead! In a few posts before, you heard me rambling on about my broken bass drumhead, right? Well, it's fixed! I'm finally able to practice, and that's a definite essential, since I will be starting up drum lessons again very soon.

And now, my haircut. I have bangs, but really, they don't suit me, so I just wear them in a headband. Sad. :(

Well, that wraps up this post (apologies for not doing one in so long.) Byebye!
